VITZNAUERHOF VITZNAU
Project Vitznauer Hof, Vitznau – Custom-made outdoor textiles by MARTIN GABRIEL
For the historic Vitznauerhof in Vitznau, MARTIN GABRIEL was commissioned to furnish all the balconies, loggias, and patios of the main building with new outdoor textiles and cushions. A project that combines craftsmanship, a keen sense of color, and Swiss precision – and makes the special atmosphere of this house truly visible.
Design that respects the location
The color scheme was deliberately developed from the hotel's architecture: Under the roof are historical paintings in shades of yellow and green that encircle the entire building. I took these colors and reinterpreted them in a modern way. They harmonize perfectly with the red-painted wooden elements of the balustrades, combining tradition and modernity into a calm and cohesive overall impression.
Materials of the highest quality
All upholstery and cushions were individually made – in custom sizes and shapes, precisely matched to the existing furniture.
High-quality, dyed-through acrylic fabrics from Piedmont (Italy) were used:
-
UV-resistant and colorfast – no fading even after years.
-
Weather-resistant – suitable for sun, rain and temperature fluctuations
-
Pleasant feel – high-quality textile surface instead of a plastic feel
-
Comfort-stable fillings – dimensionally stable, durable, lightweight
This combination of material quality and craftsmanship ensures that the cushions not only look beautiful, but also remain durable in the long term.
Swiss precision, European craftsmanship
Production takes place in close collaboration with my team – short communication channels, fast turnaround, and the highest quality control. Every seam, every edge, every filling was individually tailored and coordinated on-site. This results in a product you can see and feel: clean lines, a perfect fit, and lasting functionality.
A project in an extraordinary location
The Vitznauerhof is located directly on Lake Lucerne – one of the most beautiful places in Switzerland. I filmed a short video there to capture the special atmosphere: the light glittering over the water, the proximity of the mountains, and the quiet elegance of the house.
This environment highlights the importance of creating outdoor textiles that are not only functional but also respect the architecture and character of the place.
