THE JAPANESE BY THE CHEDI
Project: The Japanese by The Chedi – Textile staging at 2,500 meters altitude
I had the pleasure of incorporating exclusive textiles from my Martin Gabriel Yeti collection into the award-winning restaurant The Japanese by The Chedi Andermatt . Located at an altitude of approximately 2,500 meters , the project blends alpine atmosphere with modern Japanese architecture – an ideal setting for high-quality interior details.
High-quality faux fur blankets and cushions for alpine elegance
Two luxurious shades from my faux fur collection were used for this project:
-
Wiesel – a warm, natural tone with a soft, deep shine
-
Seal Grey – a cool, elegant grey tone, perfect for modern hospitality interiors
These faux fur throws and cushions were specially chosen to subtly but effectively transform the space into an Alpine chic haven . The textiles blend harmoniously with the restaurant's minimalist design, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere – especially given its high-altitude location.
Design concept & impact
The combination of exclusive materials, weather-resistant properties and precise workmanship ensures that the textiles are not only aesthetically pleasing but also functionally perfect for demanding use in the catering industry.
The targeted accents of the Yeti collection create a unique interior effect:
-
warmer and more luxurious
-
more inviting to the touch
-
Visually more focused on alpine identity
The result is a coherent overall picture that blends harmoniously into the renowned ambience of the house.
A project that shows how details change the space.
As can be seen in the photos, the faux furs create an elegant interplay of comfort, style, and high quality. They underscore the restaurant's exclusivity and demonstrate how textile details can significantly shape the atmosphere of a room.
