Care, maintenance & quality standards

Quality standard

All fabrics used in our products are certified according to Standard 100 by Oeko-Tex® (test report 21RA04594) and are therefore harmless to health.

In addition, all substances comply with the REACH regulation and do not contain any of the substances listed in the regulation in quantities exceeding 0.1% by weight.

Care instructions:

Vacuuming and removing loose surface dirt will help keep your fabrics looking new. We recommend treating stains and dirt immediately by dabbing the affected area with a clean sponge or cloth, lukewarm water, and a mild detergent. Then rinse thoroughly with clean water and allow to air dry.

Chlorine bleach does not affect the color of solution-dyed acrylic fibers and can therefore be used on stubborn stains when properly diluted.

For further information on care and maintenance, please refer to the instructions below.

Fire protection classification:

NFPA 260 / UFAC Class 1 and BULLETIN 117-2013.

Daily care

Regular vacuuming and prompt treatment of stains and soiling are crucial to maintaining the flawless appearance of your fabrics. We recommend gently dabbing the affected area with a clean sponge or cloth, lukewarm water, and a mild detergent. Then rinse thoroughly with clean water and allow the fabric to air dry.

For stubborn stains, diluted chlorine bleach can be used without affecting the color of the solution-dyed acrylic fibers. However, it is important to use the correct dilution and follow the manufacturer's instructions for safe and effective stain removal.

decorative pillows

To maintain the flawless appearance of your textiles, start by gently brushing or vacuuming the surface to remove loose dirt and dust. Spills should be treated immediately to prevent staining: Blot up any excess liquid immediately with a clean cloth. Then gently dab the affected area with a damp cloth or sponge to remove the stain.

For more stubborn stains, you can apply a small amount of natural soap or mild detergent to the cloth and gently rub the area. Avoid vigorous rubbing, as this could damage the trim. Rinse thoroughly with clean water and allow the fabric to air dry.

For particularly difficult stains, we recommend using professional cleaning services. Experts have the necessary expertise and appropriate techniques to clean your textiles gently and effectively, thus preserving their beauty and durability for the long term.

Prints, patterns

The prints used at Martin Gabriel are designed to be versatile and easy to care for. For thorough yet gentle cleaning, we recommend professional dry cleaning. Alternatively, the fabrics can be hand-washed or machine-washed using a gentle cycle at 30°C and a mild detergent. After washing, a low-speed spin cycle followed by air-drying is recommended to preserve the texture of the fabric.

The use of dryers or high-pressure cleaners should be avoided as these can damage the prints.

Indoor-outdoor prints must never be treated with chlorine bleach or strong chemicals, as this will cause lasting damage to the fabric.

For particularly stubborn stains, we always recommend professional dry cleaning to achieve the best possible results.

At Martin Gabriel, we place great importance on the longevity and beauty of our prints – with proper care, you can enjoy your favorite patterns for many years.

Is the foam or covers affected? Learn more here.

To ensure gentle care of your foam or filling material (for indoor and outdoor use), we recommend carefully removing the cover and washing it separately. Rinsing thoroughly and then air-drying is important to avoid any soap or detergent residue, which could otherwise react with the filling and damage the fabric. For stubborn stains, we always recommend professional cleaning.

Please note that only suitable outdoor foam should be used for outdoor areas – foam for indoor use is not suitable.

Outdoor furniture covers should also be certified BHT-free to prevent chemical reactions that could affect the color of the fabric.

How can you clean it?

Beer

Rub the surface vigorously with a 1:20 mixture of dish soap or mild detergent and water. Then rinse thoroughly.

How to protect the color quality of your textiles

Color loss or color changes in indoor-outdoor fabrics are often the result of prolonged UV exposure, which affects the molecular structure of the fibers and promotes the formation of radical bonds that can impair colorfastness. However, with Martin Gabriel, you can be assured that our solution-dyed acrylic yarns are specially woven to resist UV rays (UNI EN ISO 105-B04).

While color changes are rare, they can occur if care instructions are not followed. To ensure the longevity of Martin Gabriel fabrics, as well as their resistance to stains and weathering, it is important to follow our recommended care instructions (as described above).

Especially when using bleach or strong chemicals, thorough rinsing is crucial, followed by drying in the shade to prevent yellowing. Furthermore, all surface residues should be regularly removed to prevent them from settling into the fibers and triggering chemical reactions that can damage the fabric.

This is especially true in dry regions and deserts, where dust and sand particles penetrate the fibers and, together with UV rays and other substances (e.g. pillow fillings or foam), can change the color of the fabric.
